a look around my office:

* van gogh desk calendar from the metropolitan museum of art - gift from mom's trip to nyc last fall

* ceramic turquoise hippie jar i lifted from my mom's house, used to sit on a window sill of my childhood, now holds my pens and pencils

* zebra firecracker pill box from macau hong kong via the archie mcfees down the street, containing medication and a couple treasured percocets

* vase of fresh cut pink-tipped yellow roses and pink carnations from A

* a 'my analyst' magic eight ball (a little therapist humor)

* sparkly butterfly hair clip

* blue ceramic heart tea caddy from mom's trip to port townsend

* paperweight stone painted with a blue-haired tree goddess from sister loretta

* bottle of pure maple syrup from canada (sirop d'erable pur) - souvenir from co-worker's trip to whistler

* card from sis-n-law with picture of grace the 5 mo baby

* squishy purple hand stress squeezy thingy from jennifer the old child roommate

* coconut body lotion

* space alien gumdrop toy received in the mail from richard the mental

along the walls and windows:

* pictures of niece zoe, karen/gene, alphonse the tempestuous feline

* chakla indian embroidered wall hanging from jeffrey

* stacks of compilation cd's sent from richard the mental, with titles like 'the poverty jet set mix,' 'peculiar pulchritude,' 'the poor man's marilyn' and 'goodbye cruel world'

* giant crawly leafy green window plants that are currently healthy and thriving, despite the disruptive goings on in the cobblestone alley that is their view. at least they have fabulous music to listen to.

and who wouldn't thrive with fabulous music, really?
