days of wine and lavender

wow i'm so not painting the bigger picture of this lil ol life o mine in here, which is as usual, a shame.

but i definitely needed to spout the vent the other night (after which, i managed to find three relatively decent outfits that could work for the wedding, and undecided me bought them all - leaving me with just a whopping $30 to live off of until next friday. and of course i have no shoes. i'm smart like that).

so on to the good things...

so far this summer i've managed to spend time with friends i haven't seen for awhile, to reconnect with them, with myself. to create again, little bits here and there. the inkling of an itch to bring beauty to life around me. traveling little bits here and there in between the long work days into late late summer dusk.

i finally found some time to visit with friends in spokane during the ridiculously entertaining hoopfest weekend (more the factor of the friends involved than for the 48+ hours of 3-on-3 basketball tournaments - the largest in the world, i believe, but whatever)...

a couple weekends ago i spent the weekend at a cabin in camano island with the soon-to-be-married niece kai, sis-n-law loretta and kai's wedding girlies - a full weekend of sunshine, eagles, bright water views, movies, walks, talks, tiaras, cuddles and chocolate...

last weekend was completely unplanned and yet still fell together into summer goodness by catching the ferry out to vashon island to partake in a festival at a friend's lavender farm, where about forty of us gathered to a harvest treat of fresh salmon, lavender herbed veggies and white wine in bee-drenched sunshine against the bluest water, acoustic music of friends and the screaming laughter of long-haired barefooted pixie children. the perfect end to this evening was driving alone through the woodsy twilight to sit on the empty ferry dock, bright moon above, the only sound the quiet lapping from a small fishboat nearby.

with the seattle sun, the workdays are filling with lunchtime music concerts, skirts with sandals, shrimp salads and flavored water. weekends have been filled with outdoor festivals, microbrews, tired feet and sunscreen. the people watching has grown exponentially with the sun, and i am as always grateful for the quirkiness of it all.

this sunshine, these friends, these moments... i must remember to breathe them in deeply.

i feel blessed.
